Investigation Letter: Once you receive a letter from the Department of Health Investigator notifying you that your license is under investigation for alleged violations of the practice act the clock starts ticking. The letter will ask you to provide a copy of your curriculum vitae (your resume) and submit a response. Do not make the common mistake of thinking that this is not a very serious matter or that you did not do what you are accused of and file your own response. Everything you say will be used against you by the prosecuting attorney for the Department of Health.
When you first receive the letter of investigation that is the best time to call for a free initial consultation to discuss the administrative process and your options. While the letter says that you have 20 days to respond if your case is deemed a high priority case the process moves very quickly with possible emergency action taken against your license. PRN stands for Professional Resources Network and is the impaired practitioners program for all licensees other than nurses. Nurses are monitored by IPN. PRN communicates directly with the Department of Health.
